HONG KONG, China (Reuters) – Rainstorm lashed Hong Kong for hours and caused flash flooding and slowed down traffic on Wednesday (May 24).

The Hong Kong Observatory had issued amber, red, and black warnings in succession since 6:40 a.m. (2240 GMT, May 23) Wednesday morning, before cancelling the warnings later in the afternoon.

Videos and photos of streets being inundated and vehicles being submerged have been circulated online.

Many areas in Hong Kong have received more than 50 millimetres (2.0 inches) of rainfall on Wednesday morning, with rainfall in some places exceeding 100 millimetres (3.9 inches), according to local reports.
