We have now reached 100 million!
As the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) celebrated its 100th year anniversary today in Bulacan, the 100 millionth Filipino was born shortly after midnight in Manila.
According to TV and other media reports (c/o GMA-7 news website), the baby girl, which weighed about 2.8 kilos, was born at exactly 12:35 a.m. at the Fabella Hospital.
The baby was born to one Daylin Cabigayan, 27, a resident of the city. It is not yet known if the mother is a member of the INC.
According to the site, the Population Commission in Western Visayas earlier proclaimed the 100 millionth Filpino would be born at about 12:06 a.m. of July 27.
Population Commission executive director Dr. Juan Antonio Perez III had said that their calculations on the 100 millionth baby was based on the trend that 4,608 babies were born daily.
