(Eagle News)–Over 100 Filipinos repatriated from Côte d’Ivoire and the United States have arrived in the country.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said of the 102 Filipinos, five were land-based workers of Toa Corporation from Abidjan and 97 were crew members of MS Norwegian Joy, docked in Los Angeles, California.
The repatriation was facilitated by the Philippine Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, and the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles, together with the DFA-Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs and the respective employers of the OFWs, the DFA said.
All OFWs underwent the required health assessment by the Department of Health-Bureau of Quarantine upon disembarkation.
They will also be subjected to the required 14-day mandatory quarantine.
On Tuesday, April 21, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said all returning OFWs, whether land-based or sea-based, shall also undergo rapid tests for the coronavirus disease 2019.
“DFA stands by its commitment to serve all Filipinos abroad and to continue to bring home distressed overseas Filipinos in a whole-of-nation approach, consistently working with partners in government, the local manning agencies and the private sector in ensuring a safe and successful repatriation,” the DFA said.
