St. Louis Police shot and wounded a 14-year-old boy who fired at officers first Sunday (October 1) morning according to officials.
Local officials say at about 9:25 a.m., (1225 GMT) the teenager, black, fired one shot at police, after a short pursuit, before police returned fire.
A witness said two young boys were on the street when a police car drove past them. The witness, who didn’t want to be identified for fear of retaliation, said one of the boys started to run and officers got out of the car to pursue him. The boy, the witness says, then ran past the elementary school and toward a vacant lot.
The St. Louis Police Department posted a tweet saying the boy was stable at a hospital. No officers were injured in the shooting.
According to officials, the officers involved in the shooting were not wearing body cameras and there is no dashboard or body camera recording of the shooting.
The two officers involved in the shooting are white.
Police have recovered the teenager’s semiautomatic pistol at the scene.
