MANILA, Oct. 18 (PNA) -– As of 6 a.m. Sunday, around 1,760 families in the provinces of Isabela, Quirino, Cagayan and Aurora have been pre-emptively evacuated due to typhoon “Lando”, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Executive Director Alexander Pama said in press briefing.
Pama said that so far no casualties were reported as he urged the public to stay safe and monitor the weather updates.
”Number one na priority natin ngayon ay yung safety ng ating mga kababayan. No official report of casualties so far,” he stressed.
Pama said that eight bridges are not passable while some fallen trees reported in Casiguran, Aurora as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) began clearing operation in areas affected by the typhoon.
”Sa ngayon, patuloy po ang assessment sa damages,” he said.
He added that two cities and 22 municipalities in Regions 1 and 2 have lost power due to the typhoon and power was shut down in some areas as part of safety measure.
He also said that emergency communications response system has already been dispatched.
A total of 5,039 passengers, 65 vessels, 43 motorized bancas and 467 rolling cargoes are stranded due to rough sea condition caused by typhoon “Lando” while 30 flights are cancelled (28 domestic and two international flights) due to bad weather. (PNA)
