(Eagle News) — Two people have now been reported killed, and 41 others were injured after a 5.9-magnitude aftershock jolted Surigao del Norte on Sunday.

In an interview over Radyo Agila DZEC’s “Feedback,” Surigao City Vice Mayor Alfonso Casurra said the two fatalities suffered a heart attack.

Casurra said 41 were injured, and properties also destroyed.

In fact, he said many of the buildings that were partially damaged in a 6.7-magnitude earthquake on Feb. 10 were now totally damaged.

Meanwhile, on Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology recorded seven more aftershocks in the province.

Phivolcs said the most recent of these was monitored at 5:17 a.m.

The 3.7-magnitude aftershock’s epicenter was recorded 14 kilometers southwest of San Francisco, and was at Intensity 2 in Surigao City.
