(Eagle News)– The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday announced that two more persons in Iloilo City have been positive of Zika, increasing the number of infected to eight cases recorded in the country.
DOH Secretary Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial revealed that the two new patients are living in the same quarters with the sixth patient.
Last week, the DOH announced that the sixth patient acquired Zika while out of the country.
None of the three have been hospitalized and have already recovered.
The three patients are still under observation and home quarantined.
The agency sent a team to check if other people in the area have also contracted the virus.
According to Ubial, the local government of Iloilo City has intensified its search and destroy drive against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes to lower the risk to the community.
