(Eagle News) — Two of the three policemen believed involved in the killing of Kian delos Santos finally broke their silence in public about what supposedly happened the night the boy was killed.
P01 Jerwin Cruz insisted on Thursday that the man who was being dragged in circulated footage from the barangay’s closed-circuit television camera was their asset, and not the 17-year-old boy.
“Yun po ang asset namin. Isa siya sa nakakakilala sa aming hinahanap na si alias Negro na asa warrant,” Cruz said when asked in a hearing being held by the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs on Thursday.
The statement of Cruz was contrary to the claims of Zaldy delos Santos, the boy’s father, that it was Kian who was in the footage.
P01 Jeremias Pereda, for his part, reiterated their statement that the boy had fired a shot.
“Alam naming baril iyan dahil malakas pagkakaputok. May kapirasong ilaw din dun,” he said.
Although P03 Arnel Oares attended the hearing, he refused to speak without the presence of a lawyer of his choice.
