350 PWDs to attend Regional NDPR Week Forum

CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, July 20 (PIA) — About 350 Persons-with-Disabilities (PWDs) are set to attend a Regional Forum on their rights that is in line with the observance of National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week.

“The activity would have discussions on Republic Act 10524 otherwise known as An Act Expanding the Positions Reserved for Persons with Disability and Republic Act 10070 otherwise known as An Act Establishing Institutional Mechanism to Ensure Implementation of Programs and Services for PWDs in every local government unit,” Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Director Gemma Gabuya said.

“During the occasion, we will also administer the oath-taking of Women with Disability Officers and launch the 5th Regional Committee on Disability Affairs Awards for PWD-Friendly localities, leaders, and non-government organizations.

NDPR week seeks to stimulate public awareness on issues and problems of disability as well as encourage participation in uplifting the lives of PWDs.

This year’s celebration carries the theme “Karapatan ng May Kapansanan Isakatuparan… Now Na!” (CLJD/RGSD-PIA 3)
