Although the typhoon had lost its strength, authorities are still not discounting the dangers of the typhoon’s strong winds and rain according to NDRRMC Undersecretary Alexander Pama.
The typhoon will hit the provinces of Aurora and Isabela and the NDRRMC continues to remind holidaymakers to leave the Baler, Aurora area while there’s still time to evacuate. An estimated 10,000 tourists are now in the said area.
Light sea craft and fishing boats are not advised to trawl the nearby seawaters as Typhoon Chedeng’s winds pose a great threat, especially in the eastern side of the country.
Both government and local government units are now on the alert with the Philippine National Police working hand-in-hand with LGUs to update the public on Typhoon Chedeng.
Rescue teams of the PNP Regional Offices are also on standby. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in Luzon is also on red alert, while the Unified Command is now on blue alert.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is also now coordinating with various foreign embassies in the country to locate the foreign tourists currently in the country and to ensure their safety.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health is on code white alert or its health facilities are now on standby for any threat of the oncoming typhoon.
