(Eagle News) — A 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck Biliran Province on Tuesday afternoon, minutes after a 2.8-magnitude hit the same area.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the latest quake hit twelve kilometers southwest of the municipality of Kawayan at 3:04 p.m.
Three previous quakes took place at 4:43 a.m., 4:48 a.m. and 5:08 in the morning with a 3.8, 3.4 and 2.5 magnitudes respectively at a range of 15 to 20 kilometers northwest of Naval town also in Biliran.
The depth of focus of the latest earthquake was at two kilometers, while the three previous quakes were at 10, 12 and 7 kilometers respectively.
An instrumental Intensity II was also felt in Catbalogan City, Bogo City and Ormoc City due to the most recent earthquake, PHIVOLCS said.
No aftershocks were expected though.
