4.2-magnitude quake hits E. Samar early Saturday, Aug. 1

(Eagle News)–A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Eastern Samar early Saturday, Aug. 1.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake, which struck at 3:51 a.m., had its epicenter 11 kilometers northeast of Mercedes.

It had a depth of 43 kilometers.

No damage to property nor aftershocks were recorded.
