MANILA, March 21 (PNA) — A 4.5-magnitude earthquake jolted the province of Agusan del Sur on Friday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
In its bulletin, the agency said the tremor occurred at 3:31 p.m. with its epicenter traced 11 kilometers southwest of Talacogon in Agusan del Sur.
Phivolcs said the temblor, which was tectonic in origin, had a shallow depth of 70 kilometers. It was felt at intensity 4 in Talacogon.
Phivolcs described an intensity 4 quake as moderately strong and is felt generally by people indoors and by some people outdoors. Light sleepers are awakened, hanging objects swing considerably, dinner plates, glasses, windows and doors rattle while floors and walls of wood framed buildings creak. Standing motor cars may rock slightly.
Intensity 3, on the other hand, was recorded in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur; Rosario, Agusan del Sur; and intensity 2 in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon; Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur; Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental.
Manolo Fortich town in Bukidnon and Mambajao, Camiguin felt the quake at intensity 1.
Phivolcs said there was no casualty or damage reported from the quake and no aftershocks were expected.(Philippine News Agency)
