JUNE 15 (Reuters) — Four people have been confirmed dead after a building collapse in the city of Zunyi in southwest China’s Guizhou Province on Sunday.
Part of the nine-story apartment building, built two decades ago, collapsed at 05:58.
As of 22:30, firefighters had removed four bodies from the building, after a 15-hour rescue effort. Three others were injured in the collapse.
The building housed eight households, with a total of 22 residents, 12 of whom were not in the building when it collapsed.
More than 200 households have been evacuated from the nearby buildings.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse and vowed to hold relevant parties accountable.
