(Eagle News) — Forty-eight erring policemen were made to undergo an intensive disciplinary training and reorientation, as the Philippine National Police stepped up its campaign against scalawags in the force.
The 48 policemen who are members of the National Capital Region Police Office began the 15-day training on Friday at Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan in Taguig.
The men in uniform had either been administratively charged, or had been warned for certain lapses while on duty.
According to the NCRPO, these policemen were restricted within the camp for the duration of the internal cleansing program, which aims, not only to instill discipline, but also to teach financial literacy and management.
“It is about time (we) look at this problem (from) a perspective where we can help the police rebuild their life and become better public servants,” NCRPO head Chief Supt. Oscar Albayalde said, while noting that erring policemen would not be tolerated in the force.
“The problem (with) undisciplined and rogue cops has been a long time challenge in the (PNP) particularly (in) the NCRPO. The abuses and involvement of few police officers to illegal activities ruin the image of the entire organization,” he added.
He said that under his administration, “I will not allow these bad eggs to influence others nor continue their habits of destroying the image of good policemen.”
