MANILA, March 7 – The Department of Public Works and Highways said the 5.9-magnitude earthquake on March 5 in Surigao did not cause as much damage to the bridges and national roads in Region 13.
DPWH said all national roads and bridges under Region 13 were passable except for the two bridges which were damaged by the February 10 earthquake.
The Malico Bridge, particularly the Daang Maharlika Road Lipata – Surigao Section K1122+067, suffered a “depression of Bridge Approach A & B, displacement of the middle span and damaged railings.”
One lane was still, however, passable to light vehicles.
The Friendship Bridge, particularly the Surigao – San Juan Coastal Road K1118+191., was also damaged, but vehicles weighing up to 15 tons only are still passable. (PIA)
