SIARGAO City, Surigao del Norte — The 8th Siargao International Game Fishing Tournament has finally started in the Municipality of Pilar, Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte.
Some 40 anglers from eight countries were among the participants who registered for this year’s competition. The participants came from Canada, Dubai, United States of America, Great Britain, Germany and the Philippines.
One of the rules of the tournament is that all participants should simultaneously sail over the sea to go fishing. This rule was usually called by Surigaonons as “Liplipan” or “sailfish.”

The sailor with the most number of fish caught will be hailed as the winner and will be given a cash prize and a trophy by the organizers.
