SC asks PNP chief, PDEA to submit complaint vs 4 judges allegedly linked to illegal drugs trade

MANILA, Philippines (Eagle) — The Supreme Court directed Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald Dela Rosa and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Isidro Lapena to submit complaint-affidavits against four active judges who were allegedly linked to illegal drug trade in the country as earlier mentioned by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court (SC) refused to accept the resignation of one of the judges who intend to quit from his post after being named by President Duterte as involved in the illegal drug trade in the country.

SC nixes resignation of judge allegedly involved in illegal drugs

SC spokesman Theodore Te said Judge Exequil Dagala of the Municipal Trial Court of Dapa-Socorro in Siargao island, Surigao has submitted his resignation to Court Administrator Jose Midas Marquez last August 8, but the high court turn down his resignation.

Dagala is one of the seven judges linked by Duterte in the illegal drugs trade, but Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno has issued a statement saying that only four of the seven are in active duty.

Last Aug. 7, President Duterte named the seven judges when he announced the list of personalities allegedly involved in illegal drugs trade.
