NDF negotiator- NPA ceasefire extension doable

(Eagle News)– NDF chief negotiator Luis Jalandoni expressed his optimism that an indefinite extension of the 7-day unilateral ceasefire observed by the New People’s Army (NPA) can be extended, given the positive results of Oslo peace talks between the government and the National Democratic Front (NDF).

“Posible kung magkakatugma ‘yung dalawang ceasefires,” Jalandoni noted.
The NDF declared a unilateral ceasefire to keep the New People’s Army from launching attacks against government forces.
Labor Secretary and concurrent chair of government panel Silvestre Bello III stated that both peace panels would recommend amnesty for political prisoners, especially the women, the elderly, and suffering from illnesses; an answer to one of the conditions of the NDF.
All documents that resulted from first three days of the talks are now being prepared for signing by both panels. A boodle fight was also conducted to signify the “success” of the negotiations.
