(Eagle News)– The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Thursday (Sept.1) said that they will hire Chinese-speaking Filipinos for screening and interviewing Chinese nationals following the incident of some 350 Chinese tourists barred to enter Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
It turns out that they could not express their purpose of travel in English, which caused misunderstanding with the immigration personnel.
The interpreters will be hired on a contractual basis and will be deployed to all three terminals of the airport.
Applicants must be 40 years old and below, must be proficient in Mandarin, and can also converse in other Chinese dialects such as Cantonese, Gan and Min.
