QUEENSLAND, Australia (Eagle News) — The members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo (Church of Christ) from the local congregation of North Brisbane in Queensland, District of Australia East organized a special event entitled “A Celebration of Filipino Culture” last Monday, 03 October 2016 at the Fitzgibbon Community Hall.
The event showcased the richness of the Filipino culture as well as an introduction of the history and milestones of the Iglesia Ni Cristo in the last 100 years. The Iglesia Ni Cristo, which emerged in the Philippines in 1914 has reached various countries with an enormous global following.
Guests and church members were all present and actively participated during the said event. It was a showcase of multimedia exhibition, musical programs and socialization, served with Filipino cuisine. The genuine Filipino hospitality truly never fails.
The exhibition featured the following:
- Interesting facts and figures about the Philippines presented in the gallery – Pearl of the Orient Seas.
- The Iglesia Ni Cristo’s early years a century ago presented in the gallery – The Iglesia Ni Cristo: Humble Beginnings.
- The church’s milestones presented in the gallery – The Iglesia Ni Cristo Today.
- A showcase of our very own Filipino songs and dances.
- A photo booth where pictures are taken for guests to bring home as a souvenir.
- Traditional Filipino games were prepared outdoors for kids to enjoy.
- Lastly, a one of a kind gastronomic adventure by tasting the Filipino cuisine and delicacies was prepared for guests to indulge.
An experience one will never forget! The event concluded with a recognition of the winners for the Best in Filipiniana Attire as well as a short closing programme to acknowledge the guests and brethren who supported in making the occasion truly a success.
