Microsoft opened on Wednesday (October 19) a Transparency Center in Brasilia to help guard its products against cyberattacks.
Microsoft officials and Brazilian officials were on hand for the ceremony.
“We believe that there is very big potential for this technology in Brazil and we are on board, working with the Secretary of Public Security of Sao Paulo and we are working on a monitoring project that currently uses 2,500 cameras in 38 municipalities in the state of Sao Paulo, impacting and bringing effective results for public security,” said President of Microsoft Brazil, Paula Bellizia.
Microsoft has opened similar outpost in other parts of the world including Europe and Asia. The first opened in the United States two years ago.
“Microsoft has taken a step to assist governments around the world in adopting a policy framework to usher in Cloud,” said Microsoft’s corporate Vice President of WorldWide Public Sector, Toni Townes-Whitley.
The center will work in partnership with the Brazilian government’s federal security program.
The Transparency Center initiative is part of Microsoft’s Government Security Program (GSP) which includes nearly 40 countries.
