UNION GLACIER, ANTARCTIC (Reuters) — The mannequin challenge has ignited inspiration around the world and across many sports but a group of marathon runners braved extreme temperatures to perform what is believed to be the southern-most “Mannequin Challenge” on Friday (November 25).
Athletes already had the advantage of already being ‘frozen to a spot’ with temperatures hovering at around -20c before they set off for Antarctica Ice Marathon race.
Runners from 17 countries piled on the layers of clothing, goggles, gloves and balaclavas before they set of on the 26 mile race.
They ran two laps around the Union Glacier exploration camp, based just 600 miles from the South Pole, amid the most stunning arctic scenery in the world.
