MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — Malacañang on Wednesday (December 14) announced the declaration of a special non-working holiday on December 26 and January 2, 2017 both falling on a Monday.
The proclamation was signed by the acting Executive Secretary of the President, Menardo I. Guevarra and by the Acting Deputy Executive Secretary for Legal Affairs, Ryan Alvin r. Acosta.
Malacañang stated that the additional holidays is to give people the full opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their families and loved ones.
The proclamation also stated that it is an oppurtunity to promote domestic tourism and enables employers to plan their work schedules effectively and efficiently, resulting in improved productivity.
