QUEZON City, Philippines – The Department of Energy assured the public that there is an ample power supply in face of the impending maintenance shutdown of the Malampaya natural gas facility. The maintenance shutdown will start on January 20 and will last until February 16. According to Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, the maintenance shutdown should not directly affect the electricity supply and that the DOE has laid down preparations in order to protect the consumers from the effects of the Malampaya shutdown on the price of electricity.
