LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) — Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck and the creative team behind the annual Governors Ball unveiled their lavish plans and creations on Thursday (February 16) for the official Oscars after party.
Puck has created Oscar night menus for over two decades. He said he never tires of preparing the annual feast.
“I think I love madness. I don’t want to get bored, so every year we come up with new things, serve some old stuff, but I think the most important thing is the excitement at the Oscars. You can feel the vibe in the city.”
Some of the delicacies that Hollywood A-listers will be filling their bellies with on February 26 include spicy tuna tartare, mini burgers, baked macaroni and cheese, sweet pea falafel with hummus, homemade pretzels, and Moroccan spiced Wagyu short rib.
Desserts include lava cakes, cake balls, and gelato.
As for drinks, Benoit Collard, the Global Executive Director of Piper-Heidsieck Champagne, said the alcohol will be free flowing.
“That night is quite a special night. At the Governors Ball, every eight seconds a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck will be opened. We’ll be pouring more than 1200 bottles of Champagne. We’ll be serving 15,000 glasses of Champagne that night.”
The interior decor for the evening will feature flowers – lots of them, according to florist Mark Held.
“We have 10,000 blooms coming from all over the world. Roses and hydrangeas from South America, tulips and other bulb flowers from Holland, gorgeous anemones from Italy, and from here in California, almond blossoms and ranunculus.”
The Oscars will be held in Los Angeles on February 26 at the Dolby Theater. The Governors Ball begins immediately after in the Ray Dolby Ballroom.
