(Eagle News) — An extraordinary concert organized by Young Voices was held early this month at the London’s world famous O2 Arena

Performing as the biggest school choir in the world, over 7,500 primary school students took part on February 7, 2017 during this music extravaganza alongside well-known artists such as soul/jazz singer Sharlene Hector, Beatboxers The Beatbox Collective, street-dance troupe Urban Strides as well as Guitar slinging & Irish performer Tabby Callaghan.

The young performers and audience were treated to a great display of lights and music effects as the sounds of thousands of children singing in harmony filled the O2 Arena. With a full live band, backing singers and the internationally acclaimed conductor David Lawrence, it made for one of the most exciting and memorable musical experiences you can imagine.

Teachers and pupils practiced the dance routines and learned the songs in their music lessons for many months before they excitedly came together for the penultimate show at the O2 Arena.

Young Voices started off in Ireland 21 years ago and has grown to over 20 concerts held throughout the UK & Ireland, including international concerts in America and Germany, and has become the largest school choir organizer in the world. Their choirs range from 4,500 to 8,500 children, all performing at the same time to capacity audiences of friends and family.

The organization also holds four Guinness World Records including Most Backing Singers to One Lead Vocalist, when British Got Talent winner Connie Talbot performed Snow Patrol’s song ‘Run’ with over 6,000 children in one of their concerts in 2012.

Young Voices aims to bring together children from across the region, boost their confidence and provide lifelong memories for them and their families. Not only have they encouraged over 2 million children to sing at their concerts, Young Voices have also raised more than USD 2.5 million for Children’s charities.

This is an unmissable opportunity for local school choirs to sing in huge arenas alongside some of the most talented & well known artists from the world of music.

In an interview with Barbara Moses and Kaylee Hopkins of Beavers Community Primary School, they said “They didn’t like singing and they do now and coming here today is a great experience for them. They think they’re gonna be pop stars now!”

Throughout the concert, families and friends cheered on at the young performers who were incredibly proud and excited for what had been a special day and one they’ll remember for a long time.  (Eagle News Service)
