Aquino denies destabilization plot against President Duterte

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — Former President Benigno Aquino III has denied allegations that the Liberal Party is leading the destabilization plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.

In fact, Aquino said that the Liberal Party is ready to cooperate with the administration.

Aquino joined a group of people many of whom were opposing the policies of the Duterte administration at the People’s Power monument along EDSA on Saturday.

The demonstrators amassed near the national police headquarters, with some even likening President Duterte to the late President Ferdinand Marcos.

While Aquino denied that he and the Liberal Party was plotting to unseat Duterte, he had been vocal in criticizing the government’s war on illegal drugs.

He also denounced the government’s treatment of Senator Leila de Lima who was arrested on Friday.

She faces life in prison if convicted of drugs charges.
