(Eagle News) — Senator Tito Sotto on Monday said the testimonies of retired policeman SP03 Arthur Lascañas and Edgar Matobato did not jibe in several aspects.
In particular, Sotto said that Lascañas’ testimony on where Jun Bersabal was taken after he was caught differed from that made by Matobato in a Senate inquiry last year.
Lascañas, who testified on Monday’s Senate inquiry that was scheduled after he recanted his previous testimony the Davao Death Squad did not exist, said Bersabal was taken to then-Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
But Sotto said according to Matobato, Bersabal was brought to a golf course.
Asked if he thought Matobato was lying, Lascañas said: “Hindi ko po maconclude yan. Baka naiba pagkakaano niya siguro.”
He said based on what he knew, he and several others brought Bersabal to the house of Duterte and Matobato was not present there.
“Pareho kayo ng sinasabi pero naiba kayo sa pinagdalhan, at sa dahilan,” Sotto said.
