QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said it was able to help 2,000 families in Batangas, which was hit by successive earthquakes over the weekend.
According to the DSWD, an estimated 10, 000 individuals affected by the earthquake are currently assisted by the agency.
For this, the DSWD Region IV – A Field Office sent 500 family food packs to Tingloy, 1, 000 family food packs to Mabini, and 300 family food packs to Batangas City.
Also included in the relief assistance were tents, blankets, bottled water, ready-to-eat-food, and energy drinks.
Another magnitude-6 earthquake hit the Batangas province last Saturday. April 8.
A magnitude-6 quake also struck Lanao del Sur at 5:21 am on Wednesday, April 12.
The epicenter of the earthquake was felt at 14 kilometers southwest of the town with a depth of one kilometer.
There were no casualties reported in the incident.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said that the earthquake was felt at Intensity IV in Davao City, Cagayan de Oro City, Cotabato City, Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental, and Matalam, North Cotabato.
The strongest intensity of Intensity VII was felt at Wao, Lanao del Sur and Kalilangan town in Bukidnon.
