One Championship created a huge shock wave with their 10th Manila fight card as Eduard Folayang retains the One Lightweight World Championship against Malaysia’s Ev Ting via unanimous decision at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
Ting threw in everything he got against Folayang the reigning One Lighweight Champion but came in short to finding a solution to the “Landslide” of attacks that came in his way. This was Folayang’s fourth win in a row and his first victory through a title defense.
“I would like to thank Ev Ting, he really came prepared for this fight. We came to give the fans a good fight, and that’s what we have done,” said Folayang.
“This is the essence of martial arts, five rounds to show how much we’ve prepared for a long time. [This fight] means a lot. A lot of you [fans] were discouraged the last time I was here, I slept on that mat. I rose up from my circumstances. I needed to train a lot to improve a lot. This is it on my shoulder. Thank you for your support.”
Folayang’s stablemates’ Honorio Banario also claimed a victory through a devastating knockout punch over Jaroslav Jartim while Kevin Belingon forces Toni Tauru to submit verbally.
Gina Iniong and Danny Kingad also won their respective fights over Natalie Gonzales Hills and Muhammad Aiman via Unanimous Decision.
Robin Catalan of Catalan Fighting System also too home a win by split decision against fellow countryman Jeremy Miado.
It was nearly a sweep for the Filipino contingency but crowd-favorite Eugene Toquero failed to stop Stefer Rahardian after three rounds.
