(Eagle News)– Chief Superintendent Joel Coronel of the Manila Police District (MPD) on Monday (May 8) said the April 28 bombing in Quiapo is considered “solved” with the identification of some of the suspects, with one of them already in police custody.
One of the suspects in the bombing, identified as Abel Macaraya, is already in police custody and was presented during the press conference.
The police also said that the bombing was caused by a family feud or quarrel. The bombing has no connection whatsoever with the international terrorist group ISIS.
“This incident is a local peace and order problem concerning personalities residing in the area,” said Coronel.
Macaraya denied that he is a member of international terrorist group ISIS.
Manhunt operations are ongoing to locate the other suspects.
“We consider this case solved, but not closed,” Coronel said.
“We need to effect the arrest of all perpetrators,” he added.
The April 28 blast in Quiapo left 14 people injured. The police claimed it was a “revenge attack” following a gang war.
