(Eagle News)– Around 400 Martial Law victims lined up on Monday (May 8) at the Human Rights Victims’ Claims Board in University of the Philippines Diliman to get their initial compensation for the suffering they experienced during the Marcos regime.
HRVCB chair Lina Sarmiento said the first batch of more than 4,000 claimants will receive a minimum of P12,500.
The HRVCB targets to finish processing the claims of all Martial Law victims by 2018.
Most of the claimants are senior citizens, who said that money cannot pay for the difficulties they went through during Martial Law.
