LONDON, United States (Reuters) – Eyewitnesses posted videos to social media of a bomb disposal team near the site of the new United States Embassy in London on Wednesday (June 7).

British police said they carried out a controlled explosion in southwest London, but the vehicles which triggered the action turned out not to be suspicious.

The video shows a bomb disposal robot exiting a police van while sniffer dogs explore the street, which is cordoned off.

Cyrille Guillet, who filmed the video and works on the street in the video, said he heard an explosion when the robot broke into a red van.

The controlled explosion happened around 1637 GMT, and a US embassy spokesperson said no US diplomats were present at the construction site at the time.
