(Eagle News) — A Filipina is finally Asia’s Next Top Model.
Nineteen-year-old Filipina-German Maureen Wroblewitz beat Mihn Tu Nguyen from Vietnam and Shikin Gomez from Malaysia in the finals of the popular modelling competition, making her the very first Filipina to make it to the top.
Wroblewitz–probably the shortest of all the contestants—will receive a brand new car, will sign a contract for London-based Storm Model Management, and become a model of Nylon Magazine-Singapore.
“The whole time I thought like maybe me and another Filipina might get the top spots. But by the third episode, the other Filipinas were gone! Suddenly I was alone,” she recalled.
The 19-year-old, who was at one point bullied in the show, said although her experiences made her “insecure” at one point, she realized she “ha(d) to prove them wrong.”
“I wanted to show them that I deserved this. It was actually good motivation for me,” she said.
