QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — UNA ANG EDUKASYON party-list representative Salvador Belaro Jr. has recommended that instead of reconstructing Marawi City’s old city center, the government look for a new location to build a new center.
Rep. Belaro said that reconstruction of the old town center of Marawi City will be more costly as demolishing and reconstructing the old buildings will take a long time.
Last month, Belaro filed House Bill No. 5883, which called for a P20-billion budget to supplement the General Appropriations Act of 2017 for the purpose of “rebuilding and transformation” of Marawi City.
The bill filed by Belaro aims to rebuild Marawi into a “city of peace, friendship, and progress.”
