Amid reports his son’s name was being “name-dropped” by unscrupulous individuals at BoC, Duterte says he will resign if his children are corrupt

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday reiterated he would resign should any of his children be involved in corruption.

The President repeated the pronouncement following revelations in a hearing on the P6.4-billion drug shipment that entered the country in May, that his son, Davao Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte, had been “name-dropped” by some individuals engaged in corrupt practices.

“Pati anak ko na sinasali sa Customs. Sino sa mga anak ko na mainvolve sa corruption, I will immediately resign. That you have my word,” he said.

His statement drew applause from the audience at the Philippine Development Forum: Sulong Pilipinas 2017 held at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City.

He reiterated that the public should not “allow (itself) to be fooled by a worker of government.”

“Kaya sabi ko, sinoman ang opisyal who entertains, intervenes, if any of my sons, daughters, I will fire you, press charges against you,” he said.
