QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Department of Justice has issued a subpoena to Ozamiz City Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido and three other policemen in connection with the Parojinog raids.
The DOJ asked them to make an appearance on August 15 and August 22.
The subpoena was in connection with the preliminary investigation on the charges of murder filed against the four cops after the July 30 raid they made in the Parojinog camp.
The raid resulted in the death of 16 people, including Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., his wife Susan, and brother Provincial Board Member Octavio Parojinog.
Espenido and the three police were charged for violating Article 124 or arbitrary detention and Article 248 or murder under the Revised Penal Code.
The charges were filed by a relative of Carmelita Manzan, who also died in the police operation.
Earlier this week, Espenido said that he was ready to face any charges against him in connection with the Ozamiz City raid.
