President Duterte to create “anti-graft commission” to investigate complaints of corruption in gov’t

(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday announced he would create another antigraft body to “investigate complaints of corruption in government.”

“Anak ni Bebot (Bello) siguro kung kaya niya hawakan. Ayaw niya? I’m looking really for someone. Mayroon akong gustong kunin, pero di papayag. Justice talaga,” he said, referring to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III.

Duterte said he needed “maybe 1, or 2 or 3” people who would constitute the commission.

President Duterte made the announcement to create the commission after he accused the Office of the Ombudsman of “selective justice,” and of being “politically motivated.”

“The Ombudsman is quick to decide against perceived hostiles,” he said.

He also noted that the corruption charges filed by the Ombudsman against Senator Gringo Honasan were not as clear.

“I can only wish the Ombudsman will go beyond friendly bonds,” he said.
