BDO blocks ATM cards that “may have been compromised”

(Eagle News) — Banco de Oro Unibank on Friday said it blocked some automated teller machine cards after an increased number of reports about data skimming.

In a statement, BDO said the blocked debit and cash cards were those “we believe may have been compromised.”

The bank did not say, however, how many cards these were.

“For those whose cards were blocked, over-the-counter withdrawals at BDO branches are allowed free of charge,” BDO said.

It noted that the compromised cards would be replaced for free.

The incident comes on the first day of a long weekend in the country.

It also comes months after BDO reported that seven of their ATMs were compromised.
