LONDON (Eagle News) – The Jacksonville Jaguars picked up a decisive win, dispatching the Baltimore Ravens 44-7 in London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
Jacksonville moved to 2-1 for the first time since 2010 and won their third consecutive game overseas. The Jaguars’ performance was a strong contrast to their previous game where they lost 37-16 at home against the Tennessee Titans.
Both the Jaguars’ offense and defense played consistently with huge plays on offense including 3 touchdown passes to veteran Tight End player Marcedes Lewis, making his first touchdown since week 2 of last season. Rookie running back, Leonard Fournette, continued his impressive season with a touchdown and 58 yards to complete the day. The defense contributed with two takeaways in the secondary, and a forced fumble by defensive lineman Calais Campbell.
Jaguars’ quarterback Blake Bortles played one of the best games of his career, finishing the day with 244 yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions and sacks. Ravens starting quarterback Joe Flacco was benched in the middle of the game for backup QB Ryan Mallett and ended his day with only 28 yards and 2 interceptions.
“We were very happy with the play of Blake [Bortles] It’s going to be defined by what we do on Sundays,” Jaguars head coach, Doug Marrone said after the game.
Bortles will lead the Jaguars when the team visits the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium next Sunday. The Jaguars will have the opportunity to reign on top, leading the AFC South Division.
