(Eagle News) — Members of the opposition strongly denied claims that they were planning to oust President Rodrigo Duterte.
Senator Bam Aquino said that Malacañang was just diverting the public’s attention away from important issues like extra-judicial killings and what he said were the President’s bank accounts.
“Siguro, gaya ng mga paratang sa bank accounts ni Sen. Trillanes, he probably also made that up, gawa-gawa lang po yan. Hindi totoo at paulit-ulit na yan eh,” Aquino said in an interview.
“Laging nababanggit yan kapag napapansin ng Malacañang na may mga taong tumututol sa ginagawa nila,” he said.
Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan noted that Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana had already said that there was no ouster plot.
Lorenzana, however, issued the statement long before these new allegations about an ouster plot emerged.
“Naghahanap sila ng pantapal para malihis ang atensyon ng media at ng mamamayan sa alingasngas ng corruption, drug smuggling ng Davao group at ang palpak na drug war na araw-araw ang patayan. Pekeng ouster plot,” Pangilinan added.
