WASHINGTON, United States (Reuters) — The Smithsonian’s American History Museum on Tuesday (October 10) displayed recently acquired costumes and props from the television program “The Walking Dead.”
The popular show, which has aired for eight seasons, is set in a post-apocalyptic society that is overrun with “walkers.”
The “walkers” were once ordinary people but due to a disease that has infected everyone in epic proportions, people who died later awoke as hunger-crazed undead who feasted on living beings.
The Smithsonian has secured several iconic objects from the show for the national collections, courtesy of AMC.
The museum wanted to collect from the show not only because it is a commercial and critical success, but also because it helps depict the “American Experience.”
A date for the “Walking Dead” exhibit to go on display has not yet been determined.
