Thousands of people from the ravaged city of Tacloban, some of them in crutches and wheelchairs, attended the Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) WorldWide Walk in the area. The event is aimed to help out victims in the said province of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). The number of attendees, which is expected to reach at least 5000, gathered at the assembly area early on and voiced their support for the walk. After crossing the finish line, most returned to the starting venue to take part in the program. Several handicapped people attended, despite their obvious struggles. “Even though I have trouble walking, I did not want to miss this,” said a middle-aged man in crutches, who was interviewed by NET 25. “I still wanted to help out still and prove I can still be useful to my fellow Tacloban residnets, particularly those have been hit by typhoon (Yolanda).” According to local sources, the event is “pretty much” well-organized and there have been no reports of any injuries or riots. The charity walk was not without criticisms, as some have voiced out (mostly on the internet) that this sort of help has arrived “too late in the game”.
