Soldiers who fought in Marawi to receive free trip to Hong Kong

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) – The soldiers who fought against IS-inspired terrorists for months to liberate Marawi City will be given a free trip to Hong Kong.

Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said the free trip to Hong Kong and vacation there promised by President Rodrigo Duterte to the soldiers who fought in Marawi City will be fulfilled.

“That will push through, but the President has yet to set a schedule,” Andanar said in an interview.

Andanar also said that the President also promised to shoulder their hotel accommodations and pocket money.

“The President promised that, especially the women soldiers from Day 1 up to Day 148, that they will travel to Hong Kong and the President will shoulder all expenses on the hotel and possibly pocket money,” he added.

Meanwhile, Major-General Restituto Padilla said that the private sector will help President Rodrigo Duterte in fulfilling his promise.

“An airline company will give free tickets and some private individuals will give pocket money,” Padilla said in a separate interview.
