(Eagle News) — Laos Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and Indonesian President Joko Widodo arrived in the country on Sunday, in time for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit.
Sisoulith’s plane landed at the Clark International Airport shortly before 11 a.m.
He was welcomed by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi.
Minutes after, Widodo’s plane landed.
Widodo was accompanied by his wife.
Sisoulith was named prime minister late January 2016, when outgoing prime minister Thongsing Thammavong announced that he was stepping down.
He assumed the post officially in April last year after Laos’ National Assembly elections.
Widodo became president in 2014. He is the seventh president of Indonesia.
The first leaders to arrive in the country for Asean were Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.
Organizers said the arrival of United States President Donald Trump and five other world leaders will not be covered by the media for security purposes.
