The Bureau of Customs has filed a smuggling complaint against two individuals for allegedly misdeclaring a shipment of used luxury vehicles and auto parts valued at  P7.8 million.

A copy of the complaint filed by the BoC before the Manila Prosecutors Office said charged also for unlawful importation were the shipment consignee Julius Catalig, owner of Julerjac Trading; and Customs broker Rodrigo de Guzman.

According to the BoC, the shipment arrived at the Manila International Container Port on July 29, and was declared as 10 packages containing auto parts such as shock absorbers, bearings, sprockets and spoilers.

When inspected though, authorities found the shipment contained a used black Mercedes Benz, a used white Mercedes Benz, and auto parts composed of wheels and tires.

“Had it not been for the timely discovery and apprehension of the subject shipment, respondents could have unlawfully released all the subject shipment  through the use of false/falsified/spurious documents to the detriment of the government,” the BoC said.
