(Eagle News) — Four policemen were wounded in what authorities said was a New People’s Army attack in a police station in Misamis Oriental early Sunday.

A police report said 60 armed men held the assault in Minuangan that saw SPO1 Ramonito Zambas, Senior Insp. Dante Hallazgo, P03 Alberto Bernadas and PO1 Joshua Satur sustain injuries from shrapnel sent flying by an exploded grenade from an M203 launcher.

The police were, however, able to fend off the attack which the NPA said was held by their East Misamis Oriental Northeastern Bukidnon Subregional Command.

“This should serve as a reminder to the police, military and the Duterte regime that the NPA does not fear of his (Duterte) threat of all-out war and martial law whose victims are the hapless civilians,” the NPA said.

The attack came days after President Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 360 that officially terminated peace talks with the communists.

Duterte had said the  talks were called off because of the “depredatory” acts of the communist rebels, including the killing of a baby.
