President Rodrigo Duterte’s “decisive leadership, strong collaboration among various
government agencies” have resulted in “attainment of many of the priorities,” report says
(Eagle News) — The Duterte administration has “accomplished much” in its first year in office.
According to the government’s year-end report released on Tuesday, this was because of President Rodrigo Duterte’s “decisive leadership” and the “strong collaboration among various government agencies.”
The report noted that in the field of agriculture, 36,051 hectares of land have been distributed to beneficiaries from January to September 2017.
A total of 31,737 benefited from these, the report said.
The report also cited as the administration’s accomplishments its passage to Congress of the 2018 national budget.
The report said this was the “earliest submission of a proposed budget since the Ramos administration.”
In the field of education, the report said that from July 2016 to June 2017, the Department of Education has constructed 36,838 classrooms, 448, 935 school seats, and 29,725 teachers for the implementation of the K to 12 program.
“As of March 2017, the 93.7 percent benefited from the DepEd’s school-based feeding program,” the report said.
The report also cited the passage of the Free College Tuition Fee Act, among the government’s accomplishments.
In the environment sector, the report said the Department of Environment and Natural Resources has “assessed and mapped 94,121 hectares of coastal habitats for potential livelihood
opportunities as of 30 November 2017,” maintained and rehabilitated 106 ecotourism facilities, among others.
The government has also made headway in the war on drugs, the report said.
From July 1, 2016 to November 27, 2017, 79193 anti-drug operations have been conducted.
The report said 118,287 drug personalities have also been arrested and 1,308, 078 surrendered in the same period.
It added over 3,000—3976–drug personalities have died in anti-drug operations from July 1, 2016 to November 27, 2017.
“As we move forward to the President’s second full year in office, we expect a more robust year ahead especially with the approval of the 2018 General Appropriations Act and the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion Act that would see greater investments in infrastructure modernization and human capital formation,” the report said.
“Together, let us help the current administration lay down the foundation of a peaceful and prosperous Philippines that we all deserve,” it added.
