(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has designated an officer-in-charge at the Commission on Higher Education.
Duterte named Commissioner Prospero de Vera at the helm of the CHEd, following chair Patricia Licuanan’s resignation amid allegations she went on questionable foreign trips.
“Although I vehemently deny the accusations against me, it is time to resign as my continued presence in CHED is inimical to the interest of the institution,” Licuanan had said.
The appointment paper of De Vera, who served as vice president for public affairs of the University of the Philippines Diliman, was signed on January 24, but was made public only on Friday, January 26.
“Upon the instruction of (the President), and to ensure the continuous and effective delivery of public service, please be informed that you are hereby designated as (such), effective immediately,” the appointment paper said.
